Rev. Goodwin Takes Part in Take Back Christianity Effort

Darrell Goodwin is taking part in an effort called Take Back Christianity which is using videos, writings and social media to talk about key election issues through a Christian lens. The issues they are focused on are: climate change, immigration, reproductive health, Christian nationalism, economy, race, guns, and LGBT.

Becoming Legendary

Legacy

Charlie Kuchenbrod, Church Legacy Specialist, writes:

Here is a definition of a legacy church:

A congregation that accepts that it has reached its maturity and that renewal is no longer possible. The congregation turns its focus and energy to building a legacy and completing its ministry faithfully and well.

This is a good and helpful definition, but it fails to completely capture the blessings and benefits of the legacy process. How about this instead: A legacy church is on the way to becoming legendary!

SNEUCC to be Honored by RI Council of Churches

Rhode Island State Council of Churches

The Southern New England Conference and it's Executive Conference Minister, the Rev. Darrell Goodwin, are being honored as "Heroes of Faith" by the Rhode Island State Council of Churches. 

"The financial and spiritual support of the Southern New England UCC Conference has been critical to the work of the Rhode Island State Council of Churches, especially as we strengthen our role as advocates, educators, and conveners for justice and peace in Rhode Island and beyond," said Jeremy Langill, Executive Minister of the Council.

Updated: Responding to Hurricane Helene

When flood waters rise, we rise up as God's people

This resource on responding to Hurricane Helene has been updated with information from Church World Service National Congregational Engagement Manager David Costellow, who reports that CWS has shipped 3,296 Emergency Cleanup Buckets and 4,360 Hygiene Kits in response to requests from local organizations responding to Hurricane Helene.

Communities of Practice for Clergy and Faith Formation Leaders

Over the years, Communities of Practice have been an integral space of support, learning and collegiality for clergy and faith formation leaders. Currently, the SNEUCC convenes upwards of 40 communities of practice between clergy in an array of settings, and faith formation leaders, in particular, participants in our faith formation leadership program.  

We are streamlining the registration and renewal process for participants, and posting a survey for those interested in joining one.
