Updated Proportional Giving Video Available

A new, updated version of a video explaining the impact of Proportional Giving to Our Church's Wider Mission has been released, and churches are being encouraged to share the video with their congregations as they plan their budgets. 

A letter is being sent to churches in the coming days that includes a link to the video, the Conference's 2023 Annual Report, and a 2024 Estimate of Giving form for churches to fill out and return, or to complete online.

Nine Faith Formation Leaders Achieve Certification

The Southern New England Conference has the only entry-level equipping program specifically for faith formation and youth ministry leaders in the United Church of Christ. After spending two or more years taking classes in the program, one is eligible to receive its certificate.

On October 29th, nine faith formation and youth ministry leaders were awarded their Certificate in Faith Formation and Youth Ministry Leadership. Since the program's inception in 2011, certificates have been awarded to 78 faith formation and youth ministry leaders.

Silver Lake Maintains Accreditation from American Camp Association

The American Camp Association® (ACA) announced that Silver Lake Camp & Retreat Center – located in Sharon, CT and operated by the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ – has received ACA-Accredited® Camp status for the 2024 season (November 2023-October 2024.)   

Initially accredited in October 2019, Silver Lake has complied with the highest standards in the industry to maintain accreditation each year.

“Fearfully and wonderfully made” – Reflections for Intersex Awareness Day

Thursday was Intersex Awareness Day. Writing in observation of the day, SNEUCC Queer Justice Advocate Michael Streib asks, “Is our loyalty to concepts of sex and gender stronger than our commitment to the creator, who so "wonderfully" made a "marvelous" creation that is broader than any human binary?” 

“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.” - Psalm 139:14  

These poetic words of praise, written by a psalmist thousands of years ago, have been a beacon of hope for queer people of faith for a long time.
