May 8 Annual Meeting to Focus on Justice

The Southern New England Conference's Second Annual Meeting on Saturday, May 8, is shaping up to be a dynamic day focused on how our new Conference is living into justice commitments - with lots of chances for folks to build community together even while joining together virtually.

The meeting is being run online in the Whova app, which is designed to mimic a live conference space, allowing attendees to come and go as needed. Whova practice sessions are being held now through May 7. Register here.

An online hearing to discuss the business of the meeting has been scheduled for May 4 at 7:00 PM. Register here.

All are invited to attend the meeting, which will include dynamic worship with a mass choir of more than 50 voices. The deadline to register is May 5

Registration Open for Two
Silver Lake Fall Fundraisers

Registration is open for two fundraisers for the Silver Lake Conference Center: The annual golf tournament, scheduled for Sept. 21, and the Silver Lake Award Celebration on Oct. 3, honoring Valerie Tutson.

Tutson was originally slated to be recognized in 2020, but that celebration was delayed by the pandemic. She was nominated for her "decades of work as the dean of the Sing Praise family of conferences" and for her commitment to Silver Lake since attending as a child.

The Gift of God’s Presence During the Covid-19 Pandemic

In the latest issue of Generous Thoughts, Missouri Mid-South Conference Minister Rev. Dr. Ginny Brown Daniel writes: "Our churches learned how to worship virtually while our pastors generously provided pastoral care in new and substantive ways. Our Conference staff gave guidelines and webinars while also creating space to care for the clergy’s bodies, minds, and souls. Every organization within the United Church of Christ banded together to share resources, support, prayer, and love. And as much as we gave, we also received that love as precious gifts from God. Our generosity given and received told us that God would never leave us in the toughest moments of the pandemic."
