What Churches Are Doing Now During the Pandemic

In this first of a series of articles, Bridge Conference Minister the Rev. Don Remick shares the findings about worship from a recent survey of churches.

Nearly every church in the Conference is live streaming worship ... Many churches are experimenting with or considering some version of in-person in-building worship ... Currently, depending on the region of our Conference, between 20 and 25% of our churches have begun a hybrid of in-person in-building and online worship services.  As the number of Covid cases begins to rise, many of those are returning to all online worship.

Conference Staffing Announcements

Episcopal Deacon to Serve as Digital Minister

An Episcopal Deacon who has experience working with local churches to move worship and other ministries online has been called as the Southern New England Conference's first Digital Minister.

The Rev. Eric Elley has been working as a technology consultant to congregations in Western Massachusetts for eight years, while also serving as Technology Manager for Diocesan Convention for the Episcopal Diocese of Western Massachusetts

Four Staffers to Continue as Faith Formation Team

The four staff members dedicated to supporting faith formation in the historic Conferences will all continue on the staff of the new Conference.

Debby Kirk will serve full time as the Faith Formation Team Leader,  also taking point in ministries involving youth and young adults. Karen Ziel will serve full time with a focus on spiritual practices, worship resourcing, leadership development and communities of practice. Debbie Gline Allen and Kristin Putney will continue their part time focus on faith formation for all ages, particularly for families and children.

SNEUCC Environmental Ministries Recognizes 12 Leading UCC Churches

Twelve congregations have accepted the “Congregation Climate Justice Voter Challenge” and more are on the way!

These churches have formally agreed to seek to have a significant portion of their congregation (at least 75% is the suggested goal) sign the Creation Care Voter Pledge as an expression of their commitment to a more sustainable and just world for all peoples.
