Out of The Box Thinking at North Stamford Community Church

In an interview with Executive Conference Minister the Rev. Darrell Goodwin, the Rev. Jacki Gilchrest talked about how her church - North Stamford Community Church in Stamford, CT - is taking a hybrid approach to worship and beyond.

"We are hybrid when it comes to technology and in-person services and things like that. But this is also a form of hybrid where you are able to minister to people that are interested in the more traditional sense of the church, but you're also creating an environment for people that are not interested in that, but they are interested in exploring God, faith and spirituality," she said.

The Parish Paper: Is it Time to Relocate?

In the June issue of The Parish Paper, Dana Horrell looks at all the factors a church may consider when considering relocating. She writes: "Typically the question of whether to relocate is precipitated by a building crisis. The roof leaks, the high steps to the sanctuary render it inaccessible without an elevator, or basement fumes have become too noxious to ignore. Repairs may be too costly or time consuming. Is it time to relocate?"

100 CT Clergy Urge Governor to Support Health Care Initiatives

SNEUCC Legislative Advocate Michele Mudrick writes:  "Thank you to the over 100 Connecticut SNEUCC clergy who signed a letter to Governor Lamont and Legislative Leaders urging them to support the following legislative initiatives: expansion of HUSKY A to 201% of the Federal Poverty level, creation of a pathway for undocumented immigrants to gain health care coverage, and establishment of a state healthcare public option.

"On Monday, May 24, 2021, we held a press conference regarding these initiatives at the State Capitol. Just as we finished, Governor Lamont happened to walk out the door to his car so we hand delivered the letter to him."

The Parish Paper Announces Campaign to Mobilize Church Leaders to Increase Vaccines

The Parish Paper has announced a campaign to mobilize clergy and other church leaders to boost the number of persons who receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Educational materials will focus on at-risk communities and individuals who are reluctant to be vaccinated. The campaign will provide a survey about vaccine hesitancy, offer web-based tools in the form of brief how-to articles, and offer webinars for regional church offices and the congregations under their care.
